Job Title: Anesthesia Technician Location: Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Req#: 0000173285 Status: Full-Time Shift: Day Department name: Anesthesiology Job Overview: In collaboration with the anesthesiologist/CRNA, the anesthesia technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualized age specific care to patients in the surgical suite and across the perioperative division. Qualifications: Required:

• Graduated from an accredited program in Anesthesia Technology, or a suitable combination of education and 2 years of experience.
• Maintenance of BLS Healthcare Provider Course completion status required.
• Successful completion of all orientation and departmental programs, and competencies with documentation required.
• Additional experience/training may be required based on departmental specific needs. Additional certifications may be required Preferred: Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable):
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required. Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):

    • Full-Time Essential Functions:
      • The anesthesia technician will coordinate and provide technical support to the providers of anesthesia in the operating room.
      • Assist with the educational development of learners within the anesthesia department.
      • Assist with patient care, and maintain and ensure availability of supplies and equipment.
      • Anticipates the anesthesia providers needs when a case deviates from the normal and is able to provide a smooth transition.
      • Maintains and cleans equipment including cleaning and disinfection of TEE probes.
      • Maintains and cleans anesthesia machines. Prepares and calibrates anesthesia machines prior to start of surgery.
      • Stocks anesthesia carts and orders supplies as indicated.
